FAQs

Q: What if I have a project in mind but don't know of an appropriate collaborator at the partnering institution?

A: You may contact Thomas Reynolds at 646-888-0120 or reynoldt@mskcc.org and he will assist in identifying potential collaborators.

Q: How do I know which project type is appropriate for my study?

A: If you and your Co-investigator have worked together before and have pilot data that would support the research plan of the current study, a full project may be appropriate. If you do not have pilot data together and/or if this is your first time working with your collaborator, you may decide between a pilot and a pre-pilot depending upon the scope of the research and the amount of time and effort you and your collaborator are able to devote.

Q: May multiple investigators from the same institution be involved?

A: You may staff your project as you see appropriate, as long as there is one PI from MSKCC and one from CCNY.

Q: Is there administrative support available from the Partnership to help me prepare my application?

A: You are expected to prepare your application using your own administrative support. However, you can contact Alexa Berk, Partnership Research Manager, for assistance with the human subjects and budget sections of your application if you wish.

Q: Who needs to complete the mentorship plan?

A: Any faculty member who has not received R01 funding (or the equivalent) must include a Career Development and Mentorship Plan. It does not require that one investigator on the study mentor the other, rather it should provide a comprehensive picture of how the study will fit into the investigator's overall career development and mentorship picture.
